Happy 2nd Birthday, Morgan James!

Time just keeps whizzing by. I truly cannot believe my baby is 2 today. He is such a boy now. He's talking up a storm, has quite an opinion on everything and loves his big brother more than anything.

He makes my heart sing, my eyes tear and my lips smile whenever he is in the room. I look forward to watching my little boy grow into a little man. It's going to be one hell of a ride, I have no doubt. I love you, Morgan James, with all of my heart.

Happy 4th Birthday, Mia!

Happy birthday to Miss Mia Denise Richter, who turns 4 today. She is the daughter of my best friend Molly and I am honored that Morgan shares her birthday. She is an amazing child, wonderfully sweet, intelligent and beautiful, which she gets from her mother. She is the big sister to Adam McKee and I love them both as much as I love their mother. Happy birthday, Mia.

Happy Birthday, Susie!

This posting is in honor of my friend Susie. Today is her birthday and since we don't ever get to speak on the phone (she could be in Mexico, she could be in San Rafael, she could be in Nevada), I figure this as good a place as any to get a message to her. We send emails back and forth but I know she checks this website. So I wanted her to know I was thinking of her and sending her warm and happy birthday wishes. And everyone who reads my blog should as well!
Love you, Sus!

Tomorrow

is going to be a big day for our little big boy. Mason is having surgery tomorrow. We have been going back and forth with this decision for some time now and finally decided that it would be for the best. Initially it was supposed to happen last Thanksgiving but he got a cold, and they can't operate when he is sick, which was just fine with us. We were willing to put it off indefinitely. But recently he's been having a really hard time breathing at night and his apnea has been bad. So we called the doc up and made an appt. He is having his tonsils and adenoids removed and will be having tubes put in his ears, as they are filled with fluid and he cannot hear.

Had we not already been scheduled for the adenoid/tonsil removal, I would not have agreed to tubes being put in his ears. I would have investigated some other way to deal with that problem. But since he is already going to be asleep, we decided to do it.

All of this has been really hard on Wolf and I. It seems minor in comparison to what Isabel (http://www.helpisabel.us/wordpress/) is going through, but is still pretty hard for us. I know that tonsillectomies used to be quite common and the generation before us had them out as a natural part of childhood, but that isn't the case these days. It is surgery, there are risks, albeit minor ones, and I am scared shitless. But I know, I KNOW, that everything will turn out beautifully and that we will have a much happier and healthier kid in the long run.

I just have pre-operation jitters. The G&T is helping a little bit, calming my nerves, but it doesn't take away the fear. We just have to get through tomorrow...

I just talked to our wonderful next door neighbor, Nicole. She is going to watch Morgan for the morning, while Wolf and I take Mason to the hospital. Mom will come home and put Morgan down for a nap and then we will probably have Pop come and hang out until we get home. If worse comes to worse, Wolf and I can take separate cars and one of us can come home to be with Morgan, if need be. Deep breathe....all will be well.

I will keep you all posted and let you know how things go. Thank you all for your warm thoughts and great support.
